The kneeling maiden holds a symbolic heart to show the heartfelt sadness of having lost a loved one. The tomb shows the initials of the deceased "DJ" . T he sepia painted trees and a macerated lock of hair on the ground complete the picture.
A rose gold mounting has fine engraving encircling the picture and the lower area of the shank. The mounting has been tested and is guaranteed to be 15K gold. Sadly, there is no engraving to indicate the name or date of the deceased. All we have is the mourning maiden--a hand painted miniature mounted in a ring.
The ring weighs 5.9 grams and will fit a size 5.5 finger. It can be re-sized with care by a competent jeweler. The top measures 1 1/4 inch north to south and 3/4 inch east to west. it is one of four recently acquired by us and we proudly offer them for your collection. It is an unusual and excellent example of mourning jewelry.
