The petal formation exhibits outstanding carving of the four different agates. All are mounted on a sterling silver base connected by four tiny silver balls . Together the stones form a flower head effect.
Included in this unusual creation are banded carnelian, a red, green and cream blood-stone, jasper and a speckled pinkish agate. This pinkish agate has a natural inclusion, not a flaw. The central high domed agate is the pinkish stone as well.
There is a fine "T" pin and "C" clasp which are not original but obviously were replacements made years ago. A safety chain and its pin are included. The brooch is quite large--just short of 2 1/2 inches in length. it weighs 30.1 grams. There is a small ding to one of the silver connecting balls and the reverse shows four small dings as well. None affect the quality of this creation. We have not seen this design before. It would be a welcome addition to your collection--a tribute to Scottish design and quality.
