The artistry of this very early French pendant is intriguing and exquisitely done. Although the frame is not gold, the beauty of the painting is worthy of a collectors' attention. The piece comes from a private collection. We are lucky to have been able to purchase this piece from the family along with another gem.
The reverse show a fabric that has had some moisture damage. However, the painting remains perfect. In the center sits a lovely lady putting her paintbrush to a canvas. She sits in what appears to be a garden setting. We believe this part of the pendant has been done on velum The surrounding area is reverse painting on the glass done in black and gold.
It measures 2 and 1/4 inches in length and is 2 inches in width. A fold-down bale is original and is in perfect working order. The beveled glass back is in fine condition as well. Including the chain it weighs 39.2 grams. The chain is not old but will be included for immediate use.
