The workmanship in this exquisite brooch is extraordinary. The use of multiple agates cut in cabochon, flat and prymidid cuts required great skill. The agated include green speckled blood-stones, orange and mustard jaspers and gray banded agates. The central stone is a genuine faceted golden citrine.
The silver mounting is in beautiful condition. There are no hallmarks. This is typical of pieces of this age. The silver has been tested and is guaranteed as sterling silver.
The piece measures over 2 inches in diameter. This is a fairly large example. The "C" clasp and "T" pin are original and are in fine working condition. The box, marked as a jeweler from Aberdeen, Scotland, is shown. This is probably not original, bit it does hold the brooch.
