This is a design I"ve never seen before although the combination of Persian turquoise and pearls is a popular rendition. Purchased in England and set in 15K gold backing, it is a delightful design to add to your collection.
The back is inscribed with three initials " JHY ". There is a tiny dent on the back, but it has no effect on the overall quality. The steel pin is a typical closure used during this Victorian period.
The turquoise stones are beautifully set and retain their natural color except for two stones that have a green cast. This is not unusual, because turquoise is affected by skin oils and have a tendency to change color slightly. The pearls have a greyish cast. This too, is typical of the period.
The brooch measures 1 and 3/4 inch top to bottom and is 7/8 inch at the widest point.
