We are fascinated by the design of this antique English memorial ring. Although the black enamel and pearl top are not very unusual, the band shows several cut – outs with remnants of human hair woven into the openings. The hair could be removed if the owner so desires. However, it is this treatment that makes the ring so unusual.
The ring is hallmarked with Chester, England as the city of origin. The "625" mark translates to 15K gold. The date letter is obscured, so we can only guess the actual year.
The ring is a size 6 ½ and measures ¼ inch at the widest point. It sits flat atop the finger. Although some of the hair is gone in spots, the ring is in fine antique condition.
