It always amazes us to see these special pieces that have maintained their quality and clarity over 200 years. This special ring memorializes two members of the same family: “John Brown OB 13 Jan 1779 AE 52” and on the inside of the ring:” Mary Brown Jan2, ' 76 Aged 49”.
The ring has been tested for gold content and appears to be 12 K Gold. The enamel is in pristine condition, and the woven hair insert is excellent. It is a large size – 9 plus, but could be resized with care by a jeweler accustomed to working with antique pieces.
The central element is slightly larger then ½ inch in diameter. It raises 1/8th of an inch above the finger. The shank is 1/8inch in width that has a taper from top to bottom.
This is an excellent example to add to a collection.
