English in origin, this early 1800s flat cut garnet brooch/ pendant typifies the style so often sought by ladies of the day. The garnets are enhanced buy the use of foil beneath each stone giving that extra glow. The use of rose gold mounts adds to the shimmer. The stones are held in place by a series of tiny well-placed prongs.
A small ring on the back could hold a fine gold chain. The “T” pin and the “C” clasp may have been added at a later date although they appear to be original. The only flaw we see is a tiny dent to the central gold mount on the back. A touch of solder appears on the “C” clasp. In no way do these afore mentioned marks affect the quality of this Georgian gem.
Overall the measurements are 1 2/3rd inches by 1-½ inches. The center stone raises 1/8-inch height above the back. Fine condition
