I specialize in antique match safes/vestas.
This is a c. 1895 souvenir match safe for the Y. S. Midnight Sun, an English yachting steamer. Its silver plated with an enameled crest to one side, the reverse is plain. The match safe is 2 1/8 x 1 5/8 inches with a suspension loop to the top and striker to the bottom. The lid has a thumb tab to assist in opening. Its in excellent condition with a strong lid spring. This match safe is from the Audrey Sullivan Collection and was featured in her book A History of Match Safes in the United States. An image of page 151 showing this match safe is attached to the listing.
