This is a souvenir match safe for the 1892 Chicago World's Fair featuring an image of Columbus Landing on one side with a foliate edge design, the reverse has a foliate edge design and engraved initials. The bezel is marked "sterling", "172" plus an unidentified cross maker's mark. Its possible this safe was made by Octave Overath base on another previously seen signed example. Its approximately 2 1/2 x 1 3/8 inches with a striker to the bottom. Excellent condition with a strong lid spring, has a couple of small corner dents.
