I specialize in antique match safes/vestas.
This is an unusual c. 1885 match safe made in a triangular shape with a floral and foliate design on one side, the reverse has a similar design plus a cartouche with a monogram. The bezel is marked "Sterling", "440" and the maker's mark for Gorham Mfg. Co., Providence RI. The interior is gold gilded. It measures 2 x 1 3/8 inches with a striker to the bottom. The match safe is in excellent condition with a strong lid spring.
