I specialize in antique match safes/vestas.
This is a rare c. 1904 match safe featuring Love's Dream on one side and a rising sun through clouds with birds on the back. Most examples of this match safe have plain backs. The bezel is marked "sterling925fine" and the maker's mark for Unger Bros., Newark, NJ. Its 2 3/8 x 1 5/8 inches with a steel sawtooth striker on the bottom and the back is contoured. The match safe is in excellent condition with a strong lid spring. This match safe appeared in Unger's 1904 trade catalog described as Love's Dream and listed as item number 9918.
