This is a c. 1900 match safe featuring two firemen holding a hose fighting a fire on one side and The Home Insurance Co., New York logo on the reverse. The bezel is marked "Sterling" plus the Wm. Kerr Co., Newark, NJ maker's mark. The interior is gold gilted. Its approximately 2 5/8 x 1 3/4 inches with a striker to the bottom. Excellent condition with a strong lid spring. The lid has a dent on the hinge edge plus a pinhead ding on the front edge.
