This is a 1889 match safe featuring a hunting dog on one side plus trees and pond to the other. The bezel is marked "Sterling", "600" plus the maker's mark for Gorham Mfg. Co., Providence, RI. It also has what appears to be the 1889 date mark that coincides to Gorham's cost records covering this period. Its approximately 2 1/2 x 1 5/8 inches with a deep "V" striker to the bottom. Excellent condition with a strong lid spring. The front is slightly depressed. The motif has great detail.
