This is a c. 1905 match safe featuring an image of Danseuse au Voile surrounded by a floral design on one side, the reverse has the same floral design with an oval center cartouche. Danseuse au Voile is a relief by Alenandre Charpentier, an important 19th Century French sculptor and medalist. Carpentier's bas relief Danseuse au Voile is located at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. The bezel is marked "Sterling", "B2147" plus the maker's mark for Gorham Mfg. Co., Providence, RI. Its approximately 2 5/8 x 1 1/4 inches with a striker to the bottom. Excellent condition with a strong lid spring, has a small corner dent.
