This is a c. 1900 trick match safe with a center bulldog motif and fancy edge design. Pressing the bulldog allows the lid to spring open. The bezel is marked "Sterling" plus the F. S. Gilbert, North Attleboro, MA maker's mark. Its approximately 2 5/8 x 1 1/2 inches with a striker to the bottom. Excellent condition with a strong lid spring, has a couple of edge dents.
