This is a c. 1900 fraternal match safe for the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. One side has "BPOE" on the side of the lid, below is a blue enameled clock above an elk's head, the reverse is plain with only an edge design. The bezel is marked "Sterling" and the maker's mark for F. S. Gilbert, North Attleboro, MA. The interior is gold gilded. Its approximately 2 5/8 x 1 5/8 inches with a striker to the bottom, Very good condition with a strong lid spring. It has a couple of dents to the front, numerous small dings and dents to the back and edges.
