This is a very early match safe dating to c. 1833. (The first recorded sale of a friction match was April 7, 1827.) This is a combination match safe and snuff box made of brass and tin. The top has an image of King William IV with a striker below. Its approximately 2 5/8 x 1 3/8 inches and has a second striker on the underside of the top lid. Excellent condition, has a few small dings.
