This is a c. 1910 souvenir match safe for the 1000 Islands featuring an image of the Thousand Islander cruise ship. The 1000 Islands are a group of island in the St. Lawrence River between the U.S. and Canada. Based on design characteristics the match safe was probably made by J. E. Mergott, Newark, NJ. It has a metal body and brass ends that have been attractively decorated. Its approximately 2 3/4 x 1 3/8 inches with a striker to the bottom. Excellent, virtually unused condition.
