R. S. Germany gold-rimmed decorative plate in beautiful fall hues decorated with oak leaves and acorns. The background is blended shades of olive green to pale creamy beige. The oak leaves are multicolored with the acorns highlighted in a lighter color. The plate is 8 1/4" across.
The plate is marked with the Tillowitz green wreath mark with star dating from 1910-1920.
The "RS" is derived from the founder, Reinhold Schlegelmilch, but it was the work of his sons, Arnold and Ehrhard that made the mark famous. With factories in Suhl and Tillowitz, a majority of their production was exported from 1892 until the beginning of World War I. The Suhl factory closed before the end of World War I; the Tillowitz factory remained operational until the beginning of World War II.
This is a beautiful piece of history, ready to be displayed! The background shows a few spots as shown in the pictures. No chips or cracks. A beautiful antique!
This plate has a definite "autumn" feel to it and would display wonderfully in a cabinet or hung on the wall!
