This sweet teacup is over 100 years old. It is hand painted with purple violets and leaves in shades of green and grey with a gold handle. The saucer is also painted with the violets and leaves and has a gold rim design. The hand painting is interesting because it is centered around the front of the cup across from the handle and the saucer painting continues into the bottom circle.
The teacup measures 3 3/8" across the bowl, 4 1/2" to the handle and 2" tall.
The saucer is 5 3/8" in diameter.
The only mark is "Flossie '92". Based on the age of my grandparents' and great-grandparents' other items, I believe the hand painting to have been done in 1892. The wear is commensurate with that age. The teacup may have been gold rimmed with the gold having disappeared. The base of the teacup handle also shows some gold loss. The gold rim loss on the saucer is more obvious with just one section being rubbed off. I think it shows the age in a beautiful way. The gold wear is the only defect I see. Please review the pictures. There are no chips or cracks or repairs.
