Rare Antique French Barbotine asparagus serving plate by Orchies, dates from the 19th century. A highly collectable piece and not easy to come by in such a pretty design and color. The 2 little wells at the side collect the excess water from the asparagus. An enviable addition to any collection or indeed for use. The color is exquisite, pale washed blue with aqua trim and cream asparagus tipped in a burgundy color.
This is a superb and rare example. This platter is featured in Maryse Bottero's Collectors book. In very very good Antique condition with no chips or cracks it features faux crazing, some minor traces of wear commensurate with age, one tiny little area on the edge where the glaze is missing it looks like a nibble but it is not.
