Here is a 12.5 inch tall tan mohair Strunz bear. He has boot button eyes, brown felt paw pads, a horizontally stitched nose in faded black, with 5 claw stitches on each paw and foot. His mohair coverage is still quite good (see pictures). I gave him denim jeans and a red plaid shirt; It seems to suit his personality. Strunz imitated Steiff, until Steiff sued them. Their bears did not match the quality of Steiff; they were said to have taken Steiff bears apart to make patterns, and to have copied the button in the ear. This one might have tried to copy the 1905 Steiff with the 5 claw stitches. He would date back to 1905, or just after that. See page 112 in Ken Yenke's Teddy Bear Treasury. Book value $2500. This one is rare and charming.
