Rarer than a Steiff, and in amazingly excellent condition, this chocolate brown 12" Bing bear from about 1907 (the first year of Bing), has original boot button eyes, retains 85-90% of his chocolate brown mohair fur (some thinning at edges and overall), and all four original felt paw and foot pads in excellent condition. He has a black horizontally stitched nose, a cute smiling mouth, and claw stitches. His long slender arms and curved wrists are still firmly stuffed , as are his torso and legs. He retains excellent form. There is a hump on his back. The pirky ears are well attached. There probably would have been a metal arrow shaped ID tag in the ear that was removed. (Most likely when Steiff sued Bing over the ID in the ear, many were removed, or else mothers took them off for fear that their little ones might swallow them. You almost never find one with the ID in tact. Ken Yenke shows an early Bing like this one with the metal ID in the ear in his Teddy Bear Treasury books (valued at $6000. if the ID is there).
If you want a rare early Bing in excellent condition for your collection, this is it.
