A very rare brushed flannel early bear, considered the first Schuco Bear, C1912, with Boot Button Eyes, In excellent condition.
It is 11" tall, 5-way jointed, with original felt paw pads and a black stitched nose and mouth, with 5 claw stitching on each paw or foot.
I also have the first yes-no Schuco bear from 1920, in gold mohair. Their faces and body shapes are similar. (he is also in my shop)
See page 77 in Ken Yenke's Teddy Bear Treasury for a similar early brushed flannel Schuco bear.
This little bear is extremely rare and in incredibly excellent condition. All of his felt pads are very good and original. His flannel fabric body is strong with no holes, and still well stuffed. There is a squeaker in his tummy that does not work. All of his joints work well.
He is clean and ready for display; what a wonderful addition to a collection he will be!
Ken Yenke values him at $3000. plus. I am asking $2500.
