What a beautiful vintage compact. Gold tone metal with a yellow guilloche enamel top. Inside the label says "Genuine hand painted cloisonne enamel cover by Evans". I'm not sure I understand the use of the word cloisonne as I don't see "decorative work in which enamel, glass, or gemstones are separated by strips of flattened wire placed edgeways on a metal backing." It fits the description of guilloche: "The guilloche enamel is a decorative technique in which a very precise, intricate and repetitive pattern is mechanically engraved into an underlying material via engine turning, which uses a machine of the same name, also called a rose engine lathe."
This compact measures 2-1/2" and is in wonderful condition.
