A Chatelaine is a series of chains suspended from either a waist clip or in this case a finger ring. Each chain is mounted with useful household appendages such as scissors, thimbles, watches, keys, vinaigrette, and household seals. This Chatelaine, looks as though it was used by a woman when out and about. The chains have hanging on them a place to keep money (a nickle), a place for maybe some pills or other useful small items, a celluloid pad of paper and a pencil. These items are all marked Sterling and in great condition with only a few dents. A useful utilitarian item from a time long ago. From the top of the ring to the bottom of the Chatelaine is 7" and each of the silver boxes measure 1-1/2" in diameter. Beautiful!
