This is a vintage Chinese oil lamp. A porcelain teacup was modified with a brass mounting converting it into an oil lamp with glass ovoid chimney. The porcelain with a ruby red lotus vine scroll is clearly from the mid-century. The lamp was created mounting a brass base and brass lamp burner with stamped long life symbols on the rims. The bottom is marked Made in Hong Kong (Hong Kong is visited annually by tropical storms and typhoons. What an excellent piece to have in case of a power outage. Circa 1950. 5 ½” ht, 3” width, 2 ¼” diameter base
