WOW! What an exciting find! A very rare Coro Craft Camellia Hinged Bangle Bracelet. The most collectible and sought-after of the CORO pieces! The 'Carmen Miranda' bracelet epitomizes the best and most recognizable of CORO's line. Dubbed the 'Carmen Miranda' bracelet as the actress flaunted two (one on top of the other) in the 1948 film "A Date with Judy". The bracelet is hinged with two rigid halves and features either round domed, oval, or marquise ruby red, emerald green, or sapphire blue cabochon camellias in various stages of bloom and accented with pavé-set clear crystal rhinestones and green enameled leaves. The emerald green round cabochons are gallery-set; the ruby red and sapphire blue cabochons are prong set. Fastens via a push-slot style clasp and has an attached safety chain. This bracelet has been re-plated with 14kt gold – and marked as such. It measures 2-1/2” x 2-1/4” and is 1-1/2” wide.
You can see this bracelet shown in the books below:
- Miller’s Costume Jewelry - How to Compare and Value - Steven Miners
- Collector’s Guides - Costume Jewelry - Judith Miller
The patent is from 1939 and is number 116288 (for the Bracelet and Brooch) It is marked 14kt I believe because it was replated. There is slight enamel loss on the leaves – but still in excellent condition.
