Coro tried to give their costume jewelry a "French" touch and Francois was chosen as the name for their higher end jewelry. The line was introduced in 1933. But the line only lasted until 1944 when it was replaced by Vendome as Coro's Couturier division. Francois was one of the new designers at Coro in 1938. He later went on to found his own company, with costume jewelry designs marked Francois.
Exquisite detailing , big and chunky.
Fabulous workmanship, this brooch looks like fine jewelry certainly not costume by any means.
2 1/2 inches gold colored setting, mint colored enameling with large faux cream colored pearls, there is a flower circle of pave chatons in each leaf which add more drama to the already spectacular brooch.
The brooch has been in my collection over 30 years and is in mint condition .
Wear this beauty on a dress or suit I love it pinned to a hat.
