Charles Wilson Knapp was born in 1823 and died in 1900. Charles Knapp studied and exhibited extensively at the National Academy. Knapp painted many landscapes in New England and the Catskills. He was considered a Hudson River School artist. The painting is an oil on canvas relined, signed lower left. The painting has a large gold frame measuring 28 x 45.
