William Dorsey was born in Ojai, California in 1942. His father was stationed in Alaska for a few years, where Dorsey fell in love with the countryside in the summer. He traveled back and forth between the two states for nearly 30 years. Dorsey earned a living as a bush pilot in Alaska, a lumberjack, and also wrote music for such groups as the Monkeys, The Partridge Family and Bobbie Gentry. He was a self-taught artist in the California Impressionist style. After spending 50 years in Ojai, CA, William and his wife Mary moved to Palm Desert, CA where he lived until his death in 2019.
