This is an original oil on canvas painting by Frank Vincent DuMond. Mr. Dumond was born in Rochester, NY. At age 23 DuMond was an illustrator, he left to study art at the rigorous Academie Julian in Paris in 1888. Upon returning to the states, he became the leader of the Tonalist Impressionists in Old Lyme, CT. He taught at the art students league for nearly six decades until his death in 1951. Under his tutelage he brought several painters to prominence such as Georgia O'Keefe, Norman Rockwell and John Maren.
DuMond's landscape is colorful and vibrant, signed lower left. The painting is probably the DuMond farm in Old Lyme, CT. The landscape is in very good condition with some very minor repairs to the canvas. The painting measures 34 x 30 in the original frame.
