This is a fabulous early 19th century covered sugar bowl. This piece is huge, a symbol of wealth when sugar was expensive. Made of ironstone with a flow blue leaf pattern accented with copper luster. Bowl is also decorated with three sets if red & blue thin stripes. Designed with ornate acanthus leaf & scroll handles, a footed base and a tall domed lid topped with a floral finial.
This antique sugar bowl measures 8.5” h x 6.5” w; 4.5” across the top, , 3.5” across the bottom. Amazing, immaculate condition for a piece of this age with only a tiny glaze flea bite on the finial. No chips, cracks or restorations, even the luster is in great condition. A few expected irregularities in the glaze, as as common with ironstone.
