Napoleonic War Scene – English School, 1812.
Original coloured engraving corresponding to the series: "Campaign of the English Army in Portugal Bridge of Nodin", made in 1812 by the painter and engraver Henri L'Évêque (Geneva, 1769 - Rome, 1832) and engraved by the engraver Charles Heath (London, 1785 - 1848).
The Bridge of Nodin, on the Ave (Dave, from dao Ave) river, two leagues from Guimarães during the withdrawal of Marshal Soult. The French soldiers are represented throwing the last of their cannons to the river, and forcing the inhabitants to assist them.
Artists: Henri L'Évêque (1769-1832) and Charles Heath (1785-1848).
Made in London in 1812.
