Easter postcard with embossed chicks - 1916
Here is a beautiful Easter postcard from 1916. There is an embossed hen with 3 chicks, and 2 squares with flowers. The verse, titled EASTER, reads SHOUT THE GLAD TIDINGS, EXHULTINGLY SING, JERUSALEM TRIUMPHS, MESSIAH IS KING. It was mailed from Des Moines, Iowa on April 21, 1916. There is a cancelled 1 cent stamp. It is addressed to Master Bertis Burns at 325 Forest Ave., River Forest, Ill. The handwritten greeting reads "Dear Bertis, I am glad you are feeling some better. Hoping you will be able to eat lots of eggs Easter. Howard" There is minor corner wear, but otherwise in excellent condition. In the front corner there are small printed letters – E-39, and below this is a C inside a circle, and an N inside a triangle.
