The book “Zsolnay Ceramics: Collecting a Culture” by Federico Santi and John Gacher dates this piece from 1920 to 1940 (page 168). It was designed by Andras Sinko, and is signed. Sinko was a well known designer of a series of figures of children for Zsolnay. The book is copyrighted 1998 and values the piece at that time from $150 to $200. These porcelain figures are sometimes done mostly painted or in a completely white glaze. This piece is all white with touches of color for the coat buttons, on the tip of the hat and for the child’s features. Measurements are approximately 5 ½” tall, and the irregularly shaped base is about 5” by 4 ½” at the widest points. This delightful piece of Hungarian Zsolnay is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs.
