1953 Commemorative Plate of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II
Collectors of royalty memorabilia will be delighted with this pin dish or small bowl. This was made by Alfred Meakin in England to commemorate the 1953 coronation of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II, and is marked in green on the back. It is approximately ¾" tall and 5" across. The center features a sepia photograph of the young Queen flanked by beautifully colored flags and topped with a crown. Right below the picture is a banner with the words "SHE REIGN". Below all this is "CORONATION OF H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II". Around the edges are 4 groupings of crossed flags with "CROWNED JUNE 2nd 1953" written beneath. All writing is in gold and there is a gold rim around the edges. There are no chips, cracks or crazing, and no wear to the gold trim.
