This very unusual cribbage board has a brass playing surface with beveled corners. The brass has a nice patina and is obviously old. It is mounted with 4 screws onto a bakelite base. There is a hole to hold pegs at one end of the base. There are no pegs and no cover for the peg holder. There is normal wear and some scratching on the bottom, but overall in wonderful condition for a playing board of this age. Dimensions are approximately 4” long by 1 ¾” wide, and ½” thick. Bakelite was patented by Mr. Leo Baekeland in 1909 and used extensively for many products and in both World Wars. One of the tests for determining authenticity is to rub with your thumb until warm and see if it smells. This piece passes the test. Collectors will love this little beauty!
