This 1970 plate is the first of 12 plates in the Fenton Craftsman series of 12 plates. It measures 7 ¾” across and is amethyst class with carnival iridescence. The center of the plate depicts a glassblower and the border is a band of leaves and daisies.
The back of the plate has the Fenton Trademark in the center. Above the trademark it reads:
THE FENTON ART GLASS COMPANY COMMEMORATES WITH THIS HANDMADE PLATE THE EARLIEST GLASS CRAFTSMAN OF NEW AMERICA … JAMESTOWN – 1608.
Beneath the trademark it reads:
N0. 1 IN THE ANNUAL SERIES OF COLLECTOR’S PLATES BY FENTON. 1970
At the end of each year the molds were destroyed. This plate is in excellent condition.
