Aluminia was a factory making Faience or earthenware pottery in Denmark founded in1863. In 1882 the owners purchased the Royal Copenhagen porcelain factory. The factories operated independently until 1969 when the Aluminia name was discontinued. From 1904 through 1930 Aluminia produced Faience Christmas plates in both the small and large sizes. These beautiful plates were hand-painted in vibrant colors. The 1923 Aluminia plate is marked YUL, Danish for Christmas, and the trademark is the beehive with 3 wavy lines through it. This 1923 plate measures approximately 6 ½" across. The design is of a beautiful flower. Please see the pictures for details and email me with any questions. The back has the trademark, the numbers 1229 over 192 and Copenhagen Denmark. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks or repairs.
