The black Bakelite of this cribbage board is divided with white strips into 6 sections. The name Peggy Hartnett is in the center sections, a delicate white scroll is on either side of the name. It is a twice around board with 4 extra holes at each end for keeping track of games won. The fourth hole down on the top section is larger than the others and drilled all the way through the board. Possibly this is so the board could be hung on a wall. The board is approximately 9” by 2 ½” by ½”. It is in excellent condition. There were no pegs but I can supply 6 metal pegs in black and silver colors that fit perfectly and look great. Bakelite was patented by Mr. Leo Baekeland in 1909 and used extensively for many products and in both World Wars. One of the tests for determining authenticity is to rub with your thumb until warm and see if it smells. This piece passes the test.
