The blue back stamp on the bottom of this Carlton Ware match striker has the crown trademark with a circle and a bird in the middle. Above the bird are the letters W & R and below it reads Stoke on Trent. It is also marked Carlton Ware and "Crisp & C" Cambridge. According to Carlton Ware World this mark was used from c1894-c1926. On the side is a heraldic crest. Heraldic souvenir China was very popular in the early 1900's and Carlton Ware started producing theirs in 1903. Measurements are approximately 2 ½" tall by 3" wide and 9 ¼" in circumference. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks or repairs.
