Unmarked Unger Bros. 3D Sterling Owl With Brooch Red Cabochon Eyes
Owls can turn their heads to see nearly a full 365 degrees. For this reason, many cultures consider them "all seeing" or wise. The red cabochon eyes on these owls are piercing and bright. This beautiful owl brooch is in unmarked (tested) sterling silver and are three-dimensional figural owls. This pin is shown in the 1904 Unger Brothers catalog and was part of a “Waist Set” of four owl pins. Three were single owls, and one had two owls as does this one, though it is unmarked.
Two owls are each perched on a branch with textured feathers, expressive features and bright red cabochon eyes. The backs of these owls are just as detailed as the front. It has a traditional and secure C-clasp, and no visible dings or blemishes.
The brooch is approximately 2cm tall and 2cm wide.
