A very unusual antique 19th century Victorian colonial hunting knife with Southeast Asian Burmese / Thai ,Dha ,Daab, Dah hilt finely carved with several human figures in Burmese courtly dress all amid scrolling, pierced foliage. Mounted with iron ferrule, cross-guard pierced on one side for the scabbard spring catch (missing) and with a pair of flat circular quillons, robust blade formed with a double-edged point, and stamped by the maker “BOPUT NAGPORE”, In its original wood scabbard bound in leather with hand tooled checkered pattern stitched on the spine and mounted with small iron chape.
CONDITION: Showing the age and usage, the hilt with a wonderful, glossy, dark patina slightly chipped on the pommel, some expected pitting to the blade, spring catch on the scabbard missing.
