Porcelain plate reproduction of oil on canvas of the Honourable Mrs. Graham shortly after her marriage. Mrs. Graham was sixteen years old when she married Thomas Graham. She sat for her portrait at the age of nineteen. This is one of three paintings commissioned by her husband and the portrait was painted by Thomas Gainsborough (1727 - 1788). Mrs. Graham died at the age of thirty-five from tuberculosis. After she died, her husband put her portraits in storage and according to the story, forgot about them. Her husband lived another fifty years and did not remarry after her death. His heirs later found them, still in storage and in 1859 gave the paintings to the Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh.
