This is an elegant Elite Limoges blank that has been decorated with three lovely cartouches of hand painted grapes in a variety of colors and another executed in the interior bottom of the bowl. The three elaborate handles have been gilded in two different shades of gold with the intricate designs outlined in the finest black pen work. The elaborate rim has been outlined in a band of gold that remains intact.
The blank bears the Bawo & Dotter Elite underglaze factory mark 5 in green that dates the blank to after 1900. Surprisingly, given the elaborate decoration, there is no artist signature! This would be a jewel in a collection of pieces decorated with grapes.
The mold is rare and unusual. It measures 5 ¼ inches to the tip of the handle and 8 ½ inches across the widest point. There are no chips, cracks, crazing or other wear to this magnificent piece.
