If you are a fan of cherub pieces, they don’t come much prettier than this one! The mottled blues and grays of the sky is absolutely stunning…Two chubby cherubs embracing amidst flowing peach drapes of fabric are joined by a seated cherub playing a harp next to a bouquet of peach roses. Three fancy gilded feet support the body of the vase while the top is ruffled around the rim and gilded on the interior.
Alas, the piece comes as found… professionally restored. Half of the ruffled rim has been broken and professionally restored. On display the damage is not noticeable but is easy to find on close examination. I have included pictures of the damage for your examination. The vase measures 14 inches tall and 5 inches across the ruffled opening.
The vase bears a green Willets Belleek manufacturing mark that identifies it as made by Willets Manufacturing Co, Trenton, New Jersey, United States, circa1890-1912. Surprisingly, there is no artist signature given the quality of the painting.
If perfect, this beauty would be priced well over $1000 but it has been priced taking the condition into consideration. This is an eye catching vase on display as seen in the many photographs. The last picture shows the vase accompanied by a cherub jardinière which is not included in the listing and not for sale.
