This piece is sure to surprise you in person as it is so lovely and substantial. This large, vintage Mexican sterling silver (27.3 grams) Yalalag cross pendant necklace is a Taxco, Mexico piece from the 1950s-60s and its chain, also from Taxco, is of the same period. It is in wonderful condition. The cross measures 4" x 2" and the chain is 24". The Yalalag is possibly the oldest cross form in the Americas and it pre-existed the advent of Christianity; in its fullest version it incorporates layers of spiritual symbology that go back into the centuries. I love the design of intricate flowers on the top and repeated over and over on all 7 crosses. Sometimes referred to as a wedding cross. It is signed Taxco, 925 & has an eagle silver mark with a 3 in the center & initials PCH.
