This book is scarce and just recently in 2012 has had facsimiles published in paperback. This book was deemed to be culturally important. The book is in fabulous condition, 377 pages. The outside covers have minor fraying but the inside is clean, tight and excellent condition considering it's age and that it was a previously owned cookbook.
Practical Recipes by Mrs. B.B. Cutter, First Edition, New Duffield and Co, copyright 1909, published August 1909. There is a beautiful bookplate (information below) on the inside front cover (see photo). The recipes are outstanding: Good Apple Pudding, Kirsch Jelly, Okra Soup, Mutton Broth, Short Biscuit, German Potato Pancakes, Eggs in the Nest, Buckwheat Cakes, Spanish Oysters, Crab or Lobster Creole, Brandy Strawberries, Lemon Layer Cake, Pralines, Chocolate Caramels, Pop Robin, Barley Water, Mead, Higdum, Pickles, Spiced Cherries and so much more.
Shipping costs include Priority shipping, confirmation of delivery and insurance.
*Note: The bookplate belonged to Gerald Lawrence Rathbone born August 26, 1871, died Setptember 25, 1936. He and his wife Gertrude J. Rathbone were part of San Francisco society and much written about in the newspapers from that time period. They lived in Hillsborough, San Mateo County, California.
Of Added Interest: In 1909 The New York Times wrote about the publishing of this book. They note that "A great army of toothsome sounding recipes fills the 175 pages" and was originally $1.25 selling cost.
